UNITED STATES SENATOR DANIEL K. INOUYE
SUPPORTS LAWAI INTERNATIONAL CENTER

In January 2000, the Senator Daniel K. Inouye became the honorary chairperson of Lawai International Center. This event brings national recognition to the significance of our project.
Over 50 supporters of the Lawai International Center, including Grandma Nonaka, matriarch and inspiration for the Center and Lynn Muramoto, President, greeted Senator Daniel K. Inouye.
The Senator spoke about the importance of honoring our ancestors and our history, and commended the Lawai International Center's dedication to preserving the heritage of Kauai's people.
Senator Inouye who over the years has demonstrated his great aloha for Kauai, sees this project as one that will not only benefit the community but will also be a living embodiment of the spirit of aloha to the world.

Approximately 50-70 supporters of The Lawai International Center attended a picture taking session with Senator Inouye on January 18, 2000, at the Kauai Community College campus.
