Beyond Tea

There are places that live beyond time, and there are traditions that continue in purity and grace. When the two meet, the synergy elevates all of existence, and the energy cannot be contained. So it was recently at the Hall of Compassion, when the Urasenke Tonko-kai Kaua`i Tea Association brought its timeless art to Lawai. To the sounds of shakuhachi and birdsong, amid gentle movements and the soft rustle of kimono, the tea ceremony generated a powerful grace that enlightened the hall and rippled outward to all of humanity. The light, the breath of awakening, the palpable energy released and expanded through ceremony - the day brought home the cherished remembrance of balance and oneness for all.
